Washington: Printed by Gales & Seaton, 1821, octavo, 39 pp., folding map, and two folding tables, removed from bound volume, foredge untrimmed, otherwise a very good clean copy. Presents the report of Edward Coles, Register of the Land Office at Edwardsville, on the disputed titles to lots in Peoria, these were claimed primarily by the French settlers, and Indian traders of this old settlement. The settlers had settled there without any grant or permission from the authority of any government; the only title was possession. The work contains the sworn testimony of numerous old French settlers, describing their history, etc.
